Event description

We are excited to bring back our Festival Orchestra for PLAY! 2022, alongside our partners London Mozart Players, under the batons of Toby Purser (Guest Conductor) and Mattea Leow (Student Conductor). For this special open rehearsal, we bring you a festival event filled with music of hope and love featuring the fantastical journey of Grieg's Peer Gynt Suite, to the 'Fantasy-Overture' from Tchaikovsky's Romeo & Juliet, to Silvestrov's moving Prayer for Ukraine

Join us, as we go inside the orchestra and find out what makes it tick! We will be led through the process of music-making in an orchestra, hearing from the conductor's position to what it is like sitting in one of those seats., and discovering what makes these side-by-side events at Royal Holloway so unique. This event will also feature a excerpts from Dvořák's String Serenade in E major and a world premiere from Welsh composer, Nathan James Dearden.
