'Hope' is a thing with feathers with CBSO Children's Choir
‘Hope’ is a thing with feathers is a short song for young voices and piano, a setting of Emily Dickinson’s evocative poem of the same title which draws a symbolic link between birdsong and the indomitable (undefeatable) power of hope. Throughout Dickinson’s orginal poem, the persona perceives hope as a bird that resides inside humans. It persists dutifully without a break, singing constantly.
This work was commissioned by the City of Birmingham Symphony Orchestra’s Learning & Engagement team.
