Nathan appointed Lecturer in Music Composition at Royal Holloway University of London
Nathan has accepted the position of Lecturer in Music Composition at Royal Holloway’s Department of Music for 2022-23.
This fixed term post also sees Nathan appointed Interim Director of Composition. The College release states:
Joining the Department of Music at Royal Holloway for 2022-23 is Nathan James Dearden as Lecturer in Music Composition and Interim Director of Composition (Fixed-term post). A familiar face at Royal Holloway, Nathan will continue his role as Performance Manager at the College. His work as a composer and broader research centres around music in the community and music as a form of social commentary. He is currently writing new works for the City of Birmingham Symphony Orchestra, Britten Sinfonia, and the Choir of Royal Holloway as their Composer-in-Residence. Alongside teaching undergraduate and postgraduate students at Royal Holloway, he will also direct the New Music Collective and continue the role of Artistic director of the Picture Gallery Composer-in-Residence scheme.
Nathan comments: “I am thrilled to accept this position at Royal Holloway. I have worked at the College for some years in various capacities, and I am continually reminded how creative and innovative the community is. I am excited to join the Composition faculty for the coming academic year and continue its commitment to support and nurture this world-class research and talent.”
